 It is well-known that Athens is one of the most visited cities in the world because of its amazing history and picturesque quarters. But, what else can you find in Athens? We are Álvaro and Yassmine and in this blog we will introduce you some important things you should know before travelling to Greece. 

First of all, what is Athens?
Athens is the capital city of Greece, one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Because of its historical past, Athens has been one of the most touristic cities in the world. 

Tourists go there searching for "The Pantheon" and the majestous Gardens of the Palace as well as colourful streets and amazing beaches which are only 5 km away from Athens!

If you happen to go there, do not forget to have a try at the moushaka, one of Greece most iconic dishes. 

If you go on summer, be aware of the temperatures, they can even reach 48º C!

What are some popular attractions in Athens?

The most famous attraction of Athens is "The Acropolis and the Parthenon". These are a set of Ancient Greek ruins wich are located on top of Mount Licabeto, one of the most famous in the world. Although there are many people there, it is a must if you visit Athens! How is the typical greek food?

 Greece has one of the richest gastronomies in the entire world. An abundance of sea products from the Mediterranean Sea, vegetables from the vast plains and a great production of oil, leads to a balanced diet based on vegetables, proteins, glucids and lipids. Some of the most typical traditional dishes include Moussaka, an egg-plant or potato-based dish that includes ground meat; Tzatziki, a class of sauce similar to alioli; and Baklava, a layered pastry made of filo pastry filled with nuts and honey.
