What are some popular attractions in Athens?

The most famous attraction of Athens is "The Acropolis and the Parthenon". These are a set of Ancient Greek ruins wich are located on top of Mount Licabeto, one of the most famous in the world. Although there are many people there, it is a must if you visit Athens!

Other tourist attractions include the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, which is a typical Ancient theatre that was built in the second century BC; the Angora, which are greek ruins less majestic than "The Acropolis" but it is worth to visit them as well; and finally, the Changing of the guard in front of the Greek Parliament.

If visiting gardens is your cup of tea, the "National garden" is a must due to its enormus fountains and trees. 

On the other hand, if you are up for visiting the cradle of sports, you should visit the "Panathenaic Stadium", were the first Olympic Games were hold.

Of course, there are plenty of activities to do in Athens, but these ones are the most important if you only have a few days to visit the place where the civilization birthed.
